Fun Table Games this Christmas

Stylist and influencer Pandora Maxton shares her favourite Christmas games.

Over Christmas, there’s nothing like gathering around a festive table with friends and family. Once the meal is enjoyed and the plates are cleared, keep the momentum going with some entertaining table games. Here’s a list of some really fun games, including my favourite, the  Sixer Game - it’s a game we play every Christmas and at New Year with different groups as it is really simple and everyone of all ages is involved.

1.The Sixer Game

This is a fast-paced, dice game perfect for larger groups and easy enough for all ages. Here’s how it works:

What you need:

One die and a collection of wrapped small prizes. Small gifts such as chocolates, gift cards, or joke and silly presents also always work well. You could also use it as an opportunity to get rid of some of those unwanted gifts you get over Christmas. Wrapped and laid down the middle of the table.

How to play:

Players sit around the table, presents scattered down the middle.

Each player takes a turn rolling the die. For bigger groups, you may want two dice, one at each end of the table just to speed it up. If they roll a six, they take a prize from the pile and pass on the die. If they roll any other number, the die immediately passes to the next person.

Once all presents have been grabbed, the game moves to next round which is timed - and can go on for a set time say three minutes. This time if a player rolls a six they can steal a present from another player. At the end of that round, it’s time to unwrap. The presents are on show and visible. We play another three minute speed round and again if you roll a six you can steal. When the timer ends, players keep the prizes they have in front of them.

The Sixer Game’s simple rules and element of surprise make it a hit, especially for families with kids.

2.Christmas Charades

Talking Tables have a crazy charades game alongside many other table games like true or false and family bingo. Alternatively write down Christmas themed words or phrases on slips of paper (like 'building a snowman' or 'Santa stuck in the chimney') and have each player take turns acting them out.

3.Christmas Trivia

Divide into teams and test your Christmas knowledge. Talking Tables have a table trivia which is super fun and easy.

 4.Christmas Pictionary

Like charades, but for the artists in the family! Give each person or team a whiteboard and some holiday prompts to draw, such as a candy cane, Christmas tree, or a snow angel. It’s always fun to see creative interpretations.

5. Pass the Present

For this game, you’ll need one wrapped gift and Christmas music. Players sit in a circle and pass the gift around while the music plays. When the music stops, whoever is holding the gift unwraps one layer of paper. The game continues until the gift is completely unwrapped, and the last person to unwrap a layer gets to keep the prize.

6. Guess the Christmas Tune

Put on snippets of popular Christmas songs and see who can name them the fastest. Play just a few notes at a time to make it extra challenging. This game is sure to get everyone singing along!

8. Who Am I? Christmas Edition

Each player has the name of a Christmas character placed on their forehead (like Elf or Scrooge) and must ask yes or no questions to guess who they are. It’s a fun way to get everyone talking! Talking Tables also has a Christmas Family Who Am I Game that comes complete with fun specs.

I hope I have inspired you. We love extending the Christmas meal with games afterwards it really is the perfect way to get all ages involved.
