Summer Memories - Strawberry Picking

Posted by Alice White on

Our childhood memories of summer always included the much anticipated strawberry picking outing; bent over the long rows of plants in the warm afternoon sunshine, searching for the shock of red between the green leaves, then plucking the warm fruit from its stem. More often than not, we gobbled the sweet berries there and then, sticky juice running down our fingers and our chins, greedily bending down in search of more.

The farmers always joked they should weigh us on the way in and out, but their good nature of our enjoyment of this most precious bounty of summer seemed to always get us off the hook.

We left laden with punnets of sweet smelling fruit, eager to enjoy with lashings of cream after dinnertime.

We've put together a list of our favourite places to go strawberry picking around the UK. Please double check the farms own website for opening times and rules. You may need to book entry in advance.
